The Threshold Training Summer Teen Strength and Conditioning Program is an interactive strength and conditioning program for Teens between the ages of 13-16 years old. This program is designed to build a foundation of fitness using movements suitable for teenagers to reduce risk of disease, injury, and to build athletes in life, sport, and fitness.
Almost all high school sports require their athletes to spend time in the weight room. Even teens who do NOT participate in any high school sports can benefit immensely from spending time learning to move well and lift weight properly. There is a growing body of research suggesting the lifelong benefits of starting resistance training at a young age. These range from bone density and muscle mass retention to cognitive and developmental advantages through a person’s lifespan.
If your teen is already an athlete, our program is designed to take them to the next level by teaching proper mechanics, movement patterns, flexibility, nutrition, and the importance of recovery. The demands of sports are vast and require a wide range of physical skills such as strength, power, speed, agility, and unrelenting stamina. The Threshold Training Teen Program is ideal for any athlete looking to get an edge over competition in their chosen sport. Most teen athlete programs focus on one specific sport, thus leading to overuse injuries. Athletes who do not participate in a diverse program tend to miss out on the development of strengths disassociated with their sport. We instead aim to create an all-around athlete that will excel at any sport of physical task thrown their way.
If your teen is not an athlete, our programming is guaranteed to help them establish healthy lifestyle habits, increase dedication to fitness and foster perseverance.
Our primary goals for this program are to convey the notion that fitness can be fun, increase self-confidence and help teens develop a solid platform for strength and conditioning.
By the end of the 8 weeks, athletes will have:
– A more flexible, mobile, functional body: the foundation for injury resistance
– Useful strength: strength is the foundation of explosiveness
– Quickness born of improved neuromuscular coordination and motor patterning
– Knowledge of nutrition and how to fuel the athletic, growing body
– Confidence in him/herself
– Increased work capacity
The participant needs to be motivated to learn and willing to work hard. We provide the equipment, instruction, and programming. Participants are expected to arrive ON TIME and are to be dressed in appropriate workout attire. Classes will start promptly with a group warm-up followed by instruction.
